Indiana's Angola Motor Speedway Sold to Kurt Henry

Speed51.com has learned that Northeast Indiana's Angola Motor Speedway (IN) has been sold to Kurt Henry of Hoosier Metal Recycling. The track suffered several rainout's in 2011 and was close for the start of the 2012 season. The track hosts several events including the CRA Super Series and the hold one of the bigger Outlaw Super Late Model races, the Stan Perry Memorial. There is no information yet of a promoter, but former track operator Craig Everage says he's not interested. We'll have more infomation as it becomes available.
Tickets On Sale Online for ASA Midwest Tour Event at Berlin

Fans won't want to miss the first-ever appearance of the ASA Midwest Tour at the historic Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan on Saturday, June 2nd. The ASAMT cars and stars will be joined in action that night by the Berlin Raceway Super Stocks, Modifieds, Sportsmen and the Vintage Racing Organization of America. Adult tickets are just $15 and can be purchased in advance using Berlin Raceway's online box office at www.berlinraceway.com. Tickets are also still available for purchase online for the June 19th Rowdy 251, featuring NASCAR superstar and defending race winner Kyle Busch, some huge Outlaw Super Late Model Shows, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the first-ever World of Outlaws Late Models on dirt and the rest of the track's racing events in 2012.
Outsiders Expected to Challenge Regulars in Saturday’s Lane 75

Intimidator 100 winner Steve Needles is among the drivers expected to challenge Kalamazoo Speedway regulars for the victory in this Saturday night’s Lane 75. In addition to Needles the Roahrig family with father JR and son Tyler, who set quick time in for the Intimidator 100, are also expected be front runners this Saturday night. Among the regulars they will be attempting to keep out of victory lane are Andy and Phil Bozell who run first and second in points but have been shut out of victory lane in the first two events of the season. Trent Hellenga, who set quick time for the Sun Drop 50, appears to be close to his first career victory and this Saturday night could be the perfect time. Sun Drop 50 winner Brian Bergakker is looking to go back to back while Billy Shannon also is among the Kalamazoo regulars looking to break into victory lane. Main Event Racing Season 2012 Tour Opens Up This Saturday

Reed's Salvage and Direct Detail will be presenting the 2012 Super Nationals at Sandusky Speedway (OH) this coming Saturday, May 19. Fans will be treated to the MSA Super Modifieds, the Sandusky Speedway Street Stocks, and the Main Event Racing Series season opener.
A stout list of Super Late Model drivers have pre-entered to run the full season in 2012. Included are former Main Event champions Jimmy Carter and Bud Perry, many time Columbus Motor Speedway winner and champion, Donnie "Zero" Hill, former Iceman Series champion Scott Baker, longtime Midvale Speedway standout and former Main Event competitor Marcus Malcuit, and son of many time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel, Frank Kimmel, II. Others on the list looking to claim a victory are Brian Short, Jeremy Dennis, Brock Coyer, Tyler Strickland, Justin Schroeder, John Flynn, and Scott Drake. Five Dollar Admission Set for Viper Series Race on May 19th

South Alabama Speedway (AL) is sending a “thank you” to the fans on Saturday, May 19th. Track officials are hosting a Fan Appreciation Night in conjunction with the second leg of the Pro Late Model Viper Series. Admission prices will be just five dollars for fans ages 6-60, and FREE for everyone outside of that age bracket. The Viper Series is a six race Pro Late Model Series. Justin South, Brandon Odom, Korey Ruble, Josh Hamner, and opening round winner Chris Davidson are just some of the expected entries. Also, the track has a special deal at the concession stand that gives fans a free 20 ounce drink with the purchase of a combo meal. Speed51 will have live Trackside Now coverage throughout the day.

Speed51.com has added Sunday's ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards event, the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway (OH) to its Trackside Now lineup. The Menards 200 is the fifth race of the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season and the only series visit to its home track, Toledo Speedway. 51 will be on hand throughout Sunday's event with Trackside Now coverage, including lap-by-lap updates of the feature at 2pm ET. The event will air later Sunday evening at 5pm on SPEED on a tape-delayed basis, so be sure to check out the action on Trackside Now first, then watch how it all unfolded on SPEED a few hours later. After Mother Nature intervened on the May 12th Show Me the Money Series Pro Late Model event at Montgomery Motor Speedway, track officials have announced a makeup date of June 16th for the 100-lap feature event.
Gregg Paul Named Speed51.com Wisconsin Beat Writer

In an effort to strengthen Speed51.com's Upper Midwest short track racing coverage, Gregg Paul, a longtime short track racing journalist and public relations writer in the Upper Midwest has been named to 51's staff as the site's Wisconsin Beat Writer. Paul will cover events throughout the Badger State this season, including touring series events and big local shows. Paul will also work with 51 on coverage of other events outside of Wisconsin at times this season.
Select Tracks to Run Specific Ignition System Starting June 22nd

During drivers meetings on Saturday at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA) & Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) it was announced that, effective June 22 via agreement of seven major Southern tracks - Montgomery Motorspeedway (AL), Five Flags Speedway (FL), Mobile International Speedway (AL), South Alabama Speedway (AL), New Smyrna Speedway (AL), Gresham Motorsports Park (GA), and Orlando Speedworld (FL) - teams will be required to use ONE SPECIFIC IGNITION SYSTEM : Crane Cams 6701.
