New Smyrna Speedway officials announced today that JEGS, the leader in high-performance auto parts, has become the presenting sponsor of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season-opening event at the Florida half-mile oval.

The New Smyrna 150 Presented by JEGS on Sunday, February 16 will kick off the 2014 K&N Pro Series East season and will mark the first-ever visit for NASCAR's top developmental series to New Smyrna.

"JEGS has been a wonderful partner of ours at New Smyrna Speedway for several years now and their support of the K&N event is a testament to their support of short track racing," said Robert Hart, owner of New Smyrna Speedway.  "The entire JEGS staff has been a huge supporter of our annual events such as the Governor's Cup 200 in recent seasons.  It is a pleasure to extend that partnership with JEGS by having them on board as the top young drivers in the country tackle New Smyrna for the first time on February 16."

In 1960, Jeg Coughlin Sr. founded JEGS as a small speed shop. It has grown into high-performance powerhouse that includes a race team, 250,000 square foot warehouse, two retail stores, mail order and website.  JEGS upped its involvement in asphalt circle track racing immensely in recent years after a heritage focused on the dirt tracks.  JEGS.com and JEGS mail order catalogs feature a vast inventory of circle track performance parts.

"JEGS is excited to partner with New Smyrna Speedway for this historic race that starts the season for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East," said Scott "Woody" Woodruff, Director of Media & Motorsports for JEGS.  "There is always a lot of excitement when racing season begins for the fans and teams.  New drivers, sponsors, paint schemes and everyone is tied for first when they roll through the gate.  We know a lot of hard work and dedication goes into the preparation for a new season. The continued support the racing community gives JEGS is great and we are excited to see our business grow."

The first-ever New Smyrna 150 Presented by JEGS NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event is just one of the highlights of the 48th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, held February 14-22 at New Smyrna Speedway.  The World Series is the premier multi-night event in all of short track racing, featuring Tour-Type Modifieds, NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Models, Florida/IMCA Modifieds, Pro Late Models and more.  In addition to the New Smyrna 150 Presented by JEGS, the World Series will also play host to such major events as the 28th Annual Richie Evans Memorial Modified event on Friday, February 21 and the first-ever Bruce Gowland Memorial Super Late Model race on Saturday, February 22.

Entry forms and additional details on the 48th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing can be found on www.newsmyrnaspeedway.org.  An all-new New Smyrna Speedway website is currently in development and will be launched before the World Series.
