Keith Rocco Not Competing in Denny Hamlin Showdown

While appearing on the official entry list for this Thursday's Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown Late Model event at South Boston Speedway (VA), 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion Keith Rocco told Speed51.com Monday that he regretfully will not be able to compete.  Rocco said that he and his team will be working all week long to prepare their SK Modified for the season-opening Spring Sizzler event at Stafford Motor Speedway (CT) this weekend and will not be able to make the trip to SoBo.

Apple Blossom Set for this Weekend at Wenatchee

The Tri-Track Super Late Model Series in the Northwest continues its first year with the Apple Blossom 125 at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval (WA) on April 26.  The series started with the Apple Cup at Yakima Speedway (WA) which was won by Pete Harding, now they head to Wenatchee where Garrett Evans is the defending winner of the historic race.

Stafford Speedway (CT) Drivers to Race for Xtra Dollars

For the third consecutive season, Stafford Motor Speedway's (CT) NASCAR Whelen All-American Series drivers will be racing for extra bonus money thanks to Xtra Mart Convenience Stores.  Stafford's Xtra Mart Xtra D program gives drivers from each of their five weekly divisions the opportunity to race in an extra distance feature and the top-5 finishers from each Xtra Mart Xtra D feature will receive a cash bonus.  For the 2014 season, Xtra Mart Convenience Stores will contribute a total of $3,750 that will be split up among the five races that will make up the Xtra Mart Xtra D Series.

Janisch Wins Three-Quarter Midget Opener at Mahoning Valley

Matt Janisch proved no contest for the competition as he cruised to the opening win of the 2014 season for the American Three-Quarter Midget Association.  It marked the second consecutive opening night win for the Nazareth resident who piloted his home built No. 48 to his fourth career win at Mahoning Valley Speedway (PA). Frank Fischer, Joey Bailey, Buddy Sload, and Earl Paules completed the top-five.

Billy Greco to Serve as Grand Marshal for Stafford Spring Sizzler

Stafford Motor Speedway has announced that New England modified racing legend Billy Greco will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler.  Greco began his career in the early 1950's driving the #44 for Sharkey Gaudiosi and he made a name for himself by teaming up with his brother George and racing the #43.  Greco recorded over 300 feature wins in his career with wins at West Haven, Riverside, Plainville Stadium, Rhinebeck, Lonsdale, Menands, Stafford, Waterford, Freeport, Eastern States, Islip, and the Pine Bowl.  Greco claimed track championships at West Haven, Riverside, and Albany Saratoga.

Fan Voting Continues for July SK 5K at Stafford

When SK Modified teams roll into Stafford Motor Speedway (CT) on July 4 for the first annual SK 5K they will be using race procedures determined by a fan vote. Leading up to the day of the event, fans will vote to determine the length of the event, qualifying procedures, tire rules, and post-qualifying invert.  So far, fans have voted in favor of a 100-lap event, no tire changes, time trials, qualifying heats, and a top-12 invert.  For more information on the event and to vote, visit www.staffordmotorspeedway.com.

KOMA Modifieds Announce Date at Bronson (FL)

The KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Tour has announced the location of their October 25th race which will be held at Bronson Speedway in Archer, Florida.  There are still three TBA events that have not been announced as of yet.  Those dates are in June, July and November.  Tim Brown won the first race of the year at Hickory and the second race is scheduled for Sunday, May 25th at Costal Plains Speedway in Jacksonville, NC.

Redwood Acres Set for Three SLM Shows in 2014

Redwood Acres Raceway (CA) will have Super Late Models going 100-lap on three different dates in 2014. The first will be the Salute the Troops 100 on May 25, the second will be the Fireworks 100 and the final will be the Fall Spectacular 100 on September 20 & 21.  

Kalamazoo Racers Reminded to Purchase NASCAR Licenses

Attention Kalamazoo Speedway competitors - every driver is required to purchase a NASCAR license to be able to run on opening night, this Saturday's Intimidator 75.  If you are not planning on running the entire season, you can purchase a 15-day license which would allow you to run three consecutive Saturday races. The cost is $50 for the Super Lates and $25 for the other 4 classes. If you need to make arraignment to pay for your license at payoff, please contact Donna at 269-720-2384

Oxford to Host $7,000 to Win Enduro Race on April 27th

The 2014 inaugural edition of the $7,000 to win, Colossal Carnage 150 Enduro scheduled for Sunday, April 27th at Oxford Plains Speedway (ME) is quickly approaching. With entries being received daily, this event is sure to be a home run for the racers and the race fans alike. The event will feature street cars with the windows knocked out, and a few safety modifications added to the vehicles. There are no yellow flags in this event, as only the green, red, black and checkered flags will be waved. The pits will open at 7am, and tech will follow at 7:15am. Post time is 1:30pm.
